Question for the IT lurkers
I've a problem with my internet set up.
I'm happily working or browsing on the net and everything works fine. Then for some reason a regular website of mine stops being accessible. For instance tonight after writing the previous entry here the damn thing stopped me being able to access blogspirit to perhaps edit things further or write a new entry. I've had to reboot my router to allow me to re-access this site to be able to type this out. Previously it has done the same on my photos page but there it allowed me to see the page only without any pictures. Not a great deal of use for a photos page you'll agree (unless you don't like my photos of course). Again this will work properly again if I re-boot the router.
What is going on?
Anyone any clues? Virus check comes out clean. Symantec check comes out clean. Haven't got a spyware checker at the mo. This likely to be the problem?
Have fun and "ta" for any good ideas.

That's an interesting one. You do suggest the router has the problem but that doesn't mean your computer isn't causing the problem. More testing required I feel.
Pop along to http://www.mozila.com/ and download Firefox - it's an alternative browser to Internet Explorer. Install it and then the next time you have problems open Firefox and see if it has the same problems. Personally I'd recommend using Firefox instead of IE anyway :)
How often does it happen?
Does rebooting the computer without rebooting the router solve the problem?
Can you browse to other sites you've never been to before? This just ensures that you aren't accessing cached versions of the pages you visit regularly. Try http://www.altavista.com/image/randomlink although not at work - I just tested it and the first page was "Amateurs Gone Bad".
If you want a spyware checker, grab AdAware from http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/

Tried Firefox - same problem.
Rebooting PC doesn't help.
Yes can visit any sites apart from as stated.
D suggests problem with ISP or router.

I would agree.

I doubt very much if it is the router. If you remeber you used to get the same problem many moons ago using your old computer and your old USB modem. The only common thing across the 2 setups is your ISP. I would recommend emailing your ISP with the problem and see what they suggest.
